After checking into your boutique guesthouse nestled near a hillside temple, you’ll enjoy a flavorful Shanxi-style welcome lunch — an introduction to the region’s rich culinary heritage.

The afternoon is devoted to sacred discovery:

• Guanghua Temple – Wutai’s most colorful Tibetan-style monastery, glowing in deep reds, yellows, and blues
• Xiantong Temple – The oldest Buddhist temple in Wutai, housing a rare column-free golden hall
• Bodhisattva Summit – An imperial temple once visited by Qing emperors, with 108 stone steps to climb
• Luohou Temple – Known for its mysterious “flower-opening Buddha,” here you’ll also have an exclusive dialogue with a senior monk — a rare chance to receive guidance, ask questions, and reflect.

As the sun sets, you’ll share a quiet vegetarian meal inside the temple, followed by a hands-on cultural session in the art of traditional woodblock printing — an ancient craft of ink, silence, and preservation.

Rise early to begin your pilgrimage hike to Dongtai Peak — one of Wutai’s five sacred terraces. The trail is gentle yet powerful, winding through mist and meadow until you arrive at the mountaintop Wanghai Temple, often veiled in a rolling sea of clouds. A sacred spot for prayer and renewal.

Your afternoon is devoted to inner restoration:

Before dawn breaks, follow the soft glow of temple lanterns to Jingyin Temple, where monks begin their day with ancient chants, incense, and bowed heads.
